What Will You See at Fringe?

Join us this 1st Friday, July 6 at 5:30 p.m. for On The Fringe at our new Fringe Central, The Pop Up Gallery. See 2-5 minute teasers of many of the local performances in this year's Fringe. With 168 performing artists and 459 shows, you need a preview peak to plan. The Pop Up Gallery is located at 2100 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108.

THEATRE
The heart of Fringe is an amazing showcase of new plays by local playwrights, talented actors giving daring performances, and unique artists making their voices known.

BURLESQUE
Fringe is at the forefront of the resurgence in burlesque, and offers a variety of beautiful women (and sometimes men) daring to entertain with evocative, inventive, and flirty stripteases.

MUSIC
In addition to our regular offerings of lo-fi musical entertainment, this year's Fringe brings you the Experimental Music Showcase, a partnership with the Charlotte Street Foundation Urban Culture
Project and the Kansas City Electronic Music & Arts Alliance, offering new and experimental music and sound art at the fringes of standard practice.

DANCE
Modern dance? Bellydance? Indian dance? Aerial dance? You'll find it all at Fringe, where dancers of every style entertain and amaze with their athletic and graceful skills.

FILM
Kansas City's robust filmmaking community is showcased at Fringe with shorts compilations by filmmakers and organizations like CinemaKC, the Independent Filmmakers Coalition, and Kansas City Women in Film and Television.

SPOKEN WORD
One person alone on the stage, telling their story. Part confessional, part poetry. Enjoy one of the most ancient and simple performing art forms as these engaging storytellers and wordsmiths bring you into their worlds and open their hearts.

VISUAL ART
Fringe offers several unique ways to enjoy visual art in addition to our gallery display at Fringe Central. Watch the creative process in action with Iron Artist, as exhibiting Fringe artists get down and dirty with "the secret ingredient." What will it be? The Art Truck parks at different performance venues and lets viewers walk into a mobile art gallery that bridges the gap between the public and art. All visual arts events are free.

YOUTH FRINGE
Youth Fringe features youth performing for you! Showcasing some of our area's most talented young performers with the help of such organizations as City in Motion, Reel Spirit Young Filmmaker
Showcase, Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, Westport Center for the Arts, Whatsoever Community Center, the Writer's Place and the Plaza Library. All Youth Fringe events are free.

TEEN FRINGE
Fringe presents Teen Fringe, a brand new offering of plays written and performed by teens.
