Fringe Artist: iMime Comes to KC

Kristen's Stephens, repeat Fringe performer, is returning to Kansas City with "iMime: There's an App for That." This show is the ultimate low-tech adventure in a high-tech world. This one-night-only performance pulls hilariously from the cyber-world of experience and from Kirsten's wealth of experience in physical performance. Her show is filled with painfully funny visual puns that anyone who uses the Internet can relate to, as she uses her years of training with Marcel Marceau to bring to life "Apps" inspired by everything from online dating to "Angry Birds." Don't miss the show that made reviewers say they couldn't stop smiling.

See Kristen this Friday, 3/22, 8-9pm at the Arts Asylum, 1000 E 9th St, KCMO 64106. Tickets are only $10 for adults, and $5 for youth 16 and under. Fringe button-holders will receive a $2 discount, as will students, military, and seniors.

Artist to Artist | Movement for Theater Workshop
Kirsten Stephens will be providing a full weekend of workshops for Kansas City artists, March 23-24, "Moving Sculptures, Telling Stories."

"The moment you arrive on stage, before you even open your mouth, you have begun telling a story:" Kirsten guides her participants to sculpt movement for more direct, varied, and exact communication with the audience. Kirsten will delve into the techniques of past masters Marcel Marceau and Etienne Decroux (father of Corporeal Mime), and explore the importance of weight, form, rhythm, and breath in creating character, illusion, and story in search of a "more complete actor".

Kirsten's workshops aren't just eye-opening - they are entire-body-opening. Her instruction has inspired performers of all callings, mimes, actors, and more; she inspired Kansas City's own Greg Owsley to develop the juggling routines that he has performed at Juggling Festivals across the U.S. & Europe, and which made him a RAW Art semi-finalist here in Kansas City. Join Kirsten to unlock your own potential for physical storytelling, to seek your own most capable performer.

Fringe button-holders can recieve a 10% discount on the $100 2-day workshop. The workshops will run 10am-5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, in the New Centuries Follies Studio inside the Arts Asylum at 1000 E 9th Street, Kansas City, MO, 64106. Contact Byrd Productions at 816-305-8188 to reserve your spot or go to www.byrdproductions.org. Stay updated on facebook for more detailed directions and suggestions for preparing.
