AND THE WINNER IS...2012 IRON ARTIST IS STAN MORGAN

Westport Center for the Arts Instructor Wins Contest Based on Iron Chef Concept

The KC Fringe Festival's 2nd Annual Iron Artist competition at the Pop Up Gallery last night featured eight competitors taking the Iron Artist challenge to create an artwork in 60 minutes with a secret ingredient, feathers, revealed only at the starting bell. Stan Morgan withstood the pressure of a crowd filling the gallery to capacity and seven other talented competitors to emerge as the 2012 Iron Artist Champion. Stan teaches Kids Team Up for Art for the Westport Center for the Arts.


Winners were determined through audience votes. Seven other artists participated including the 2011 defending Iron Artist Champ, Chad Williams, along with Stan Morgan, Kent Van Dusseldorp, Trudy Feliz Gonzales, Sandy Woodson, Camilo Estremadoiro, Brett Ransom and Ryan Haralson.


Iron Artist competitors artwork will remain on display at the Pop Up Art, 2100 Grand this week. It will be auctioned this Sunday, July 29, at the KC Fringe Closing Party beginning at 6:00 pm.
