Fringe Announces New Music Category

True to our mission to support emerging and experimental art in all forms, the Fringe is inviting musicians to help us define the newest member of the Fringe performance family -- the New Music category. Our Fringe-like definition of new music is music without walls or boundaries. Check out the Ecstatic Music Festival happening now and the recent New York Times article, "Bridging Genres And Generations On the Fly". If you're inspired to perform, use the Performing Arts application on the KC Fringe website and indicate "New Music" as your category. Applications are due March 15. In keeping with our mission of performing innovative and challenging music of our time, newEar announces the Third Annual newEar Composers' Competition for its 19th concert season.  Submission deadline is Feb. 15, 2012.
